Closing or Loan Package Day-Of: Mobile Notary Steps

Closing day is a stack of papers and several professionals. This is only the notary’s part.

Important. Swift Mobile Notary is based in Clayton, Missouri, and provides mobile notary services across the greater St. Louis area. We are not a law firm and we are not your attorney.

I am not an attorney and have no authority to give advice on immigration or other legal matters.

Under Missouri law, a notary who is not an attorney shall not assist another person in drafting, completing, selecting, or understanding a document or transaction requiring a notarial act (RSMo 486.675). We will not tell you which form to use, how to fill it out, or whether you “need” a particular paper. For those questions, talk to a licensed Missouri attorney or the agency that issued the form. What this is for

Use this when title, a lender, or counsel sent a signing package and you need a mobile notary in Clayton or St. Louis County — including South County, North County, and St. Charles.

What to bring

  • The final package (or confirm the notary has the final file)
  • Government photo ID for every signer
  • Any second signer who must appear
  • Questions list for your title company, lender, or attorney — not for the notary

What we can and cannot do

We can: identify signers, watch signatures where the package indicates, and complete notarial certificates already in the package.

We cannot: explain the contract, say it is safe to sign, wire money, or invent missing pages. Helping you “understand” the transaction is outside non-attorney notary limits (RSMo 486.675).

Steps

  1. Read what title/lender/counsel sent before we arrive.
  2. Call them with questions first.
  3. Confirm time, address, and who must appear.
  4. Sign with the notary present for notarial pages.
  5. Return the package through their overnight or scan process.
