Under Missouri law, a notary who is not an attorney shall not assist another person in drafting, completing, selecting, or understanding a document or transaction requiring a notarial act (RSMo 486.675). We will not tell you which form to use, how to fill it out, or whether you “need” a particular paper. For those questions, talk to a licensed Missouri attorney or the agency that issued the form. Use this when a form, affidavit, or package already asks for a notarial act and you need a Missouri notary to complete that act. This is not a guide to whether your document “needs” notarization. What to bring
- The document, ready to sign (or already filled in where you are allowed to fill it in)
- Current photo ID that meets Missouri notary identification rules
- Every person who must sign, able to appear as required
- Any extra witnesses your attorney or the form already called for
What we can and cannot do
We can: identify you under Missouri rules, watch you appear for the notarial act, and complete the notarial certificate that goes with that act.
We cannot: draft your document, pick which form to use, fill legal blanks, explain what the paper means, or give immigration advice (RSMo 486.675 / 486.680).
Steps
- Confirm with the issuer or your attorney that the paper is the right one and is ready.
- Gather ID and every signer.

- Sign only when the notary is present for the notarial act.
- Keep your copies and return the packet to whoever asked for it.
