Under Missouri law, a notary who is not an attorney shall not assist another person in drafting, completing, selecting, or understanding a document or transaction requiring a notarial act (RSMo 486.675). We will not tell you which form to use, how to fill it out, or whether you “need” a particular paper. For those questions, talk to a licensed Missouri attorney or the agency that issued the form. Use this when you are signing something that needs a notary and your name situation is messy. We do not process name changes. Available when you need a mobile notary in Clayton or nearby St. Louis–area communities.
What to bring
- Current photo ID
- The document with the name written the way the issuer requires
- Any supporting papers the issuer told you to bring (we do not choose them)
What we can and cannot do
We can: identify you under Missouri rules and complete the notarial act if the appointment can proceed.
We cannot: change your legal name, edit the form to “make it match,” or advise how a court or agency wants the name shown. Ask that office or an attorney first if the names conflict.
Steps
- Ask the issuer how the name must appear.
- Update ID through the proper agency if needed (that is not a notary service).
- Text or call for a time when the document and ID are ready.
- Appear and complete the notarial act.
